This morning, we had the pleasure of listening to Mark Hanson talk about the recent caucus, Dallas County growth, and the "Stepping On" program. As a leader at his precinct, it was interesting to hear Mark's perspective on the Iowa caucus. The process ran smoothly at his location, even though more than twice the amount of citizens appeared than was expected. In addition, Mark is on the Dallas County Board of Supervisors. He shared that the population increased to more than 40,000 people in the last 15 years. With this growth comes many renovations and additions to county buildings and services. To wrap up his presentation, Mark gave us tips to use or share that can prevent seniors over 65 years of age from falling. He is a certified trainer for the "Stepping On" program which helps seniors learn exercise tricks to prevent falling and other incidents (e.g. Tai Chi exercise). Mark provided us with thought-provoking information, and we appreciate the time he took out of his busy life to come speak with us.
