Steve Helm, Dallas County Assessor

On November 20^th, Steve Helm, the Dallas County Assessor, joined the Waukee Rotary Club.    He has been the assessor in Dallas County for the last 11 years.   His main duty as the assessor is to create equity so that everyone is paying their equal share for services. 

 

Some interesting statistics Steve shared is that in 1990, there were 688 houses in the city of Waukee.   At the beginning of 2014, there were 5,300 houses.   In 1990, the total value of real estate in Waukee was $50 million.   At the beginning of 2014, the total value of real estate was $1.3 billion. 

 

Steve then took some questions, regarding mostly the failed bid bond referendum in Dallas County for a new law enforcement center and a new administrative building.
