Danny Beyer - Young Vaiety "Bow Tie Ball"

Danny Beyer shared on 10/9/14 about the charity gala he co-founded called the Young Variety “Bow Tie Ball” and how through the use of social media, connections within the community and a love for bow ties he has been able to grow the annual charity event from its inaugural event on October 4^th, 2013 and raising $7,000 to $16,000 from the most recent event held on September 25^th, 2014.

The idea stated after Mr. Beyer and a friend posted a picture of themselves while donning a bow tie to Facebook declaring that “today is Bow Tie Wednesday” during December of 2012. Within five minutes the picture had 125 likes. Due to the popularity Mr. Beyer created a page on Facebook dedicated to “Bow Tie Wednesday”.  When the page was created Mr. Beyer and his friend made a pact that if the page got over 500 “likes” they’d find a way to start a charity event encompassing bow ties.  The goal was reached and through a long process of developing a business plan with other community leaders the Young Variety Bow Tie Ball was born.  Today the Facebook page has over 1,000 “likes”.

Mr. Beyer’s goal for the ball for 2015 is to raise $25,000. The event date of the 3^rd Annual Bow Tie Ball is being targeted for some time in October of 2015.  Attendees can enjoy food, networking, live music, and also receive a custom made Variety Bow Tie.
