Heather Schmidt - American Heart Association

On December 11th, Heather Schmidt from the American Heart Association joined the Waukee Rotary Club. She provided some interesting facts about heat disease and illness. She said that 1 in 3 Americans have some form of cardiovascular disease and that congenital heart defects are the #1 birth defect in newborns. As well, nearly 50% of adults and children don’t get enough exercise.

The American Heart Association’s goal is to reduce heart related deaths by 20% by the year 2020.
